School Health Program
Students attending school require health services, either for minor injuries, Girl in schoolsudden illnesses, ongoing medical problems, administration of medication, or acute mental or social problems.

The Citrus County Health Department School Health Program ensures that school children are healthy in the classroom, and ready and able to learn. School nurses use their skills as educators, managers, counselors, and health service providers in the schools, and plan and carry out a TOTAL school health program. Their aim is to maximize each child's potential to learn and grow by providing them with the best possible health care.

Some of the services that the School Nurses provide are review of health records, including immunization records, with referrals for needed boosters and medications; develop and coordinate individualized care plans for special needs students; provide screenings; provide training for school staff; provide health education and counseling on numerous health subjects.
