Tuberculosis Control
Provides services, regardless of income, to clients who have tuberculosis infection.  Identifies contacts to those cases of tuberculosis and those at high risk for progression to tuberculosis disease once infected.Doctor examination

Tuberculosis screening tests are available if indicated.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)
Services: Confidential risk assessment, examination, testing for numerous Smiling Doctorsexually transmitted diseases (including HIV and hepatitis), treatment, and educational services are available to persons infected with or suspected to be infected with sexually transmitted diseases and their contacts. 

Cost:
Services provided on a sliding fee scale basis; many services are free.

Hours and appointments:
Services may be provided on a walk-in basis, but appointments are preferred.

Counseling and Testing:Doctor holding a file

  • Confidential and anonymous testing is available at each clinic site.  To assure patient confidentiality, results are only given in person; no results are given out over the phone or by mail. 

  • Rapid testing may be available allowing the client to receive test results within 10 minutes, ask the clinic counseling and testing staff for availability.

  • In anonymous testing a barcode and your date of birth are used as identifiers. Your name is never recorded on any paperwork or test.
  • In confidential testing your name and date of birth will appear on your test and information sheet.

Cost:
There is an optional fee of $20, you can be tested whether you choose to pay or not.

Hours:
Counseling and testing services may be provided on a walk-in basis, but appointments are preferred.  Call the clinic site nearest you.

 

If a Test is Positive:
Your counselor will discuss options with you. He/she will help you get medical treatment and care.  Your counselor will inform you of assistance programs for HIV infected individuals, like Ryan White and ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) and a case manager will be assigned to you if you are eligible.

HIV/AIDS Primary Medical Care:
The Citrus County Health Department provides medical care to anyone who tests positive for HIV.  Case management and ADAP services are available to qualified clients.

Community Outreach and Education:
Programs are available to community group and organizations.  To schedule contact 527-0068 ext 237 or 304.
